Disc Golf Course Overview
The Greenville Disc Golf Course is a volunteer-led project, sponsored by Community Partners of Greenville. The course is currently under construction with professional-grade PDGA approved targets and paver tee pads. There is an 18-hole layout that park users can play with the UDisc mobile app. The course navigates through many beautiful features of Vanderbilt Park including dozens of stone walls, various tree canopies, and Basic Creek. The course is designed with a winter layout that uses the farm fields after harvesting and a summer layout that is confined to the woods. The course is free to play, and loaner discs will be available at the public library.
What is Disc Golf?
Disc golf is played much like golf except, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. A disc golf hole begins from a tee area and ends at a target which is an elevated metal basket. As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive throw from the spot where the previous throw landed. When the "putt" lands in the basket, the hole is complete.
The Stone Wall Classic
On October 13th, 2024, the first PDGA-sanctioned event in Greenville was held at Vanderbilt Park. "The Stone Wall Classic" is an annual disc golf tournament designed to showcase the Greenville Disc Golf Course in its winter layout.
